Forest Hall School's art room had stopped feeling like somewhere creativity happens. A tired room in need of a revamp with old, dated furniture.
The school appointed Pinnacle to refresh the room from the ground up, with new décor, flooring and lighting, plus loose and fitted furniture and a working Kiln area, giving students and staff a room they could be proud of again.
The Brief
Forest Hall School's requirements centred around three key objectives:
A more practical layout
The old central tables restricted movement and group work. The school wanted smaller, reconfigurable furniture that could adapt to different class sizes and activities.
Better storage
The department needed significantly more storage, including space to hold student artwork upright and on display, so pupils could see their work rather than tucked away.
A refreshed space that still feels part of the school
New flooring, décor and lighting throughout, finished in colours already used elsewhere at Forest Hall School.
What We Did
Pinnacle stripped the room back to a shell and rebuilt it from the floor up, working through décor, lighting, flooring and a full furniture fit-out.
Fabric and Décor
Pinnacle repainted the walls and woodwork, replaced the ceiling tiles, and updated the lighting throughout. We also fitted new vinyl flooring for its slip resistance and durability, able to withstand water and materials on the floor.
Furniture and Storage
To replace the old large central tables and stools, Pinnacle placed two main classroom tables in the centre of the room with light blue Postura stools on either side, chosen for their durability and space-saving stacking. Perimeter benching was also added on both sides of the room, giving students extra worktop space.
Capacity units were also installed, including double-door units, tray units and six-drawer units, finished in pastel blue and pink from Pinnacle's own colour range to match furniture used elsewhere in the school and echo Forest Hall School's branding. Vertical portfolio storage was also placed, which the school liked as it let students stand their folders upright, keep materials organised, and store artwork easily.
Finishing Touches
Pinnacle added coat hooks, open shelving and drying racks throughout, giving students somewhere practical to hang bags and coats, display work in progress, and dry pieces safely. These small details make the room as functional day-to-day as it is well designed.
Kiln Room
The kiln area, with an adjoining office, is a feature of the art room. Pinnacle updated the entrance and added new shelving, keeping the space practical without losing what makes it distinctive.
The Result
Forest Hall School now has a large, practical art room built around flexibility and storage, where students can see their work properly stored and displayed. It's a space that reflects the care Forest Hall School puts into its pupils, and one they're proud to work in.
